For some time chainmail protective products from the Far East
(most notably from China) that prevent skin punctures have been
sold into some countries worldwide.
Such chainmail products claim to be the same quality as those
manufactured in Europe . However the actual place of manufacture
of such Far Eastern products is often unclear. Some do include
a CE logo, but more often they are not accompanied with the required
documents to satisfy the current European Standard (e.g. detailed
information on the manufacturer and instructions for use).
Recent tests undertaken on some of these chain mail gloves have
revealed significant defects in manufacture, giving cause for
concern in terms of how stringently such products are tested before
they are sold on the open market. Questions must be asked as to
whether they do, in fact, meet the required PPE standard and provide
the required protection.
It is extremely likely that if any of these products were sent
for repair to a European Manufacturer they would be refused as
they would not be European Certified Products.
